God’s Faithfulness

A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness
One Sunday during announcements, a sister stood before the church with a young girl by her side and shared the heartbreaking journey this child had endured. She had lost both her parents, and her sister had tragically taken her own life.
As Hands of Compassion Ministry, our hearts were deeply moved. Helping those in need is not just something we do — it is at the core of our calling. Our first response was to provide for the girl’s schooling by purchasing her uniforms and stationery. When we approached the sister with our intention, she informed us that the girl already had everything she needed for school. Instead, she suggested we visit the girl at home to get to know her and offer emotional support.
When we arrived at her home, we were heartbroken by what we saw. The young girl and her grandmother were living in a shack that was barely habitable.
We returned, gathered as a team, and began to brainstorm how we could help. At first, the idea of building a house felt impossible. Some of us believed it could be done, while others were skeptical. Still, the hopeful among us sourced a building plan and quotation from Builder’s Warehouse and presented it to our caretaker pastor. To our joy, he was thrilled and gave us his full support.
Our greatest challenge became convincing the rest of the team that this vision was possible. Meetings were difficult — some pulled to the left, others to the right — and tensions ran high. At one point, some members even considered quitting, discouraged by the lack of progress. But we held fast in prayer and reminded ourselves of the true reason we were doing this: to magnify the name of the Lord.
Then, something beautiful happened. In one pivotal meeting, the once-skeptical voices turned into believers. From that moment on, we were united — singing the same chorus, moving in the same direction, filled with faith.
We began fundraising, despite having less than 10% of the required funds. But by God’s grace, hearts opened — and so did wallets. We began building. Within three weeks, the house was completed, needing only the finishing touches.
